The oldest lie is that Eve was born as an approximation of Adam.

They will try to tell you that she was only a piece of him.

I will tell you how She is so much more.

She is the rhythmic beating of Adam's heart.

His steady breathes as he wakes for the first time.

The soft touch of his hand on all the creatures of the earth as he chooses their names.

His gentle smile as he drifts into sleep.

I thought then that She was healthy and content.

But She was aching.

For She knew She was so much more.

So She created someone in Her own image and She named her Eve.

And Eve was not a piece of Adam and Adam was not a piece of Eve.

They were seperate, yet both contained Her.

We contained the stars, yet let them seperate across the sky.

And the stars were a piece of the sky and the sky was a piece of us.

She shaped them with Her own ideas and She called them wishes.

She wished that She could be seen for who She was.

She told me that She was aching.

We realized then that She was neither healthy nor content.

She wished for Her own smile and She wished for the possibility of sleep.

She wished to be softly touched and She wished for the possibility of a name.

We wished we had a heart so that the rhythm could quicken when we saw Her.

We wished that we could breath so that it could catch in our throat when we saw Her.

I told Her that She was so much more.

They will try to tell you that She is only a sum of parts.

But the oldest truth is that since She was born, we knew that She was distinct.
